Instructor-Led

Training: Instructor-Led Courses (Printable Version)

Please note we need a minimum of 6 people to run the instructor-led course.

This class is taught by an instructor and is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 7PM - 9PM. We only teach 1 class via instructor:

  • Pre-requisites: None
  • Class Size: Up to 15
  • Days & Duration: Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7PM - 9PM
  • Cost: $20 per class/per person

This is a 5 part class that is taught in 2 hour segments.

  1. Basic Computer Knowledge
  2. Windows structure and installing devices (Printers, Cameras, etc.)
  3. Internet and Email information.
  4. Updating Windows and Antivirus Software
  5. Data Backup

Class 1 - Basic Computer Knowledge:

  • Basic component knowledge. (Parts and pieces!)
  • How to plug in and connect your components to your computer.
  • How to add software to your computer.
  • How to keep your computer from starting programs and services automatically.

Class 2 - Windows Structure and Installing Drivers:

  • File system information. (Includes file structure, naming conventions, and hidden files!)
  • Keeping your computer up to date by using the Windows Update site, Microsoft download site, and the Microsoft knowledge base.
  • How to keep your drivers up to date.
  • How to setup a printer/scanner and print a test page.
  • How to customize your desktop, and different video/audio settings

Class 3 - Internet Information

  • Basic IE knowledge (Includes security settings, managing cookies, and clearing cache files)
  • Setting up Outlook and Outlook express.
  • How to use search engines.
  • Virus and Spyware avoidance and removal. (Includes Firewalls, and Network Address Translation)
  • Getting rid of SPAM and pop-ups!

Class 4 - Updating Windows and Antivirus Software

  • How to update the Windows software.
  • How to update hardware drivers.
  • How to update virus software.
  • How to run patches or fixes for known viruses.

Class 5 - Data Backup

  • How use zip programs.
  • How to use CD burning software.
  • How to use FTP Software.
